Learning Opportunities:
"The Birds, the Bees, the Flowers and the Trees: Nature-based Play Therapy Interventions" Training:
In celebration of Earth Day 2022 it is important to promote for children and adolescents a sense of an ecological self. In a play therapy session we can begin to foster a child’s observation, curiosity, empathy and sense of wonder when we connect them to nature. Children, teens and families can explore their resources and strengths through the metaphors found in nature alongside the therapeutic powers of play. In this two hour nature play therapy training participants will learn at least four different nature-based interventions with a focus on “Birds, Bees, Flowers and Trees.” A brief case vignette will be presented for each experiential activity and handouts for each intervention will be provided. Rose was one of 4 presenters in this training.
Focusing Learning Enrichment Group.
Focusing is a practice to developing one’s “felt sense” which is a term coined by Gene Gendlin. The “felt sense” is described as a murky, and vague somatic sensation that can be made clear when we learn how to Focus in a particular way. Focusing allows you to connect to your bodily sensations and deepen your self-awareness. As we learn to do this with ourselves we will be able to help clients learn to do this process. Focusing can be incorporated into a variety of psychotherapy practices. Interested please email: rjlapiere@mac.com.
