Supervision
As a registered play therapist supervisor, I can provide in-person or online supervision to professionals who wish to incorporate play therapy to their practice and / or become a registered play therapist.  I am a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist- Supervisor® as well as an EMDR Certified Consultant.  Group and individual supervision is available now, contact me for more information.

Play Therapy
Play is the language of children and play therapy is a treatment approach that encourages children to play out their fears, worries and conflicts. It is the preferred method to work with children ages 3-12.  I am certified in Synergetic Play Therapy® Supervisor.

Play therapy helps children develop social skills, relationship skills, learn how to express emotions, develop self confidence, problem solving skills, and take responsibility for behaviors. Parents are actively involved in the treatment process.  Association for Play Therapy at www.A4PT.org

Theraplay®
Theraplay® is a child and family therapy for building and enhancing attachment, self-esteem, trust in others and joyful engagement. It is based on the natural patterns of playful, healthy interaction between parent and child. Theraplay® is an evidence based play therapy. I am a foundational Theraplay® practitioner. http://www.theraplay.org/

Sandtray Therapy
Sandtray offers a way to help a child or adult process how they feel.   It is a very powerful tool that can be used in addition to talk therapy.  Sandtray can help the emotions that are stuck in the right brain become integrated to the language that is in the left brain.  It creates a meditative state from which we are able to express those difficult experiences with or without words.  Leading trauma expert Bessel van der kolk supports Sandplay as a treatment modality for healing. Sandplay Therapist's of America's website at www.sandplay.org

EMDR
EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a powerful therapeutic method which accelerates the treatment of a wide range of clinical issues.  I help clients become "unstuck" and able to move on after decreasing/eliminating the symptoms of traumatic or stressful events.  I am a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor and can integrate EMDR with play therapy to help child as well.  In addition, I am an EMDR Certified Consultant from EMDRIA.

Ana Gomez psychotherapist expert in EMDR writes "When yucky things happen, the brain has a hard time putting all the pieces together and as a result, things that people say or do or things that kids see, hear, smell or touch can bring up the yucky memories, the mixed-up thoughts, feelings and body feelings connected to those yucky things. EMDR helps the brain put all the pieces together so the yucky stuff can leave us and the good stuff or the things we learned from it can stay so we get stronger. Then, the brain can chew up and digest all the mixed-up feelings and thoughts as well as the yucky feelings we may have in the body."
